Celebrate the final week of Contemporary Anishinaabe Art: A Continuation with a Hip-Hop showcase featuring projections of animated works by Konstance Patton Ke-nee-go-keshek and Jonathan Thunder, along with performances by rappers KHALFANI and Thomas X. Highlighting shared experiences of Native and Black Americans, each featured artist presents Hip-Hop as a powerful, culturally enriching, and uplifting creative force for Native and Black communities in Detroit and beyond.
Complementing the DIA’s special exhibition, this performance explores how Hip-Hop—both a product and expression of the Black experience—also speaks to the social and political realities of Native artists.
While at the museum, be sure to visit Contemporary Anishinaabe Art: A Continuation, on view through April 5.
Capacity is limited. Seating begins 30 minutes prior to the performance.
