102 min.

This program of three documentaries delves into the lives and work of exhibition artists Rabbett before Horses Strickland, Delina White, and Jonathan Thunder.

Rabbett Before Horses is a portrait of a modern-day Renaissance man – painter, musician, and theoretical mathematician. Best known for his large-scale mythological paintings, Strickland (Red Cliff Band of Ojibwe) reflects on the ideas, experiences, and influences that have shaped his work and career.

Common Ground follows fashion designer Delina White (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe) as she works alongside her daughters to prepare for a Two-Spirit runway show at the renowned Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. The film offers insight into White’s design process and a glimpse into the world of Native couture.

Good Mythology brings to life the world of Jonathan Thunder (Red Lake Nation), whose evocative surrealist paintings and animations draw from personal experience, pop culture, and Anishinaabe history and mythology. His work invites viewers to take a critical look at our shared mythologies.
