Use a variety of drawing and collage materials, as well as stamps and stencils to illustrate and design a movie poster. Create something new that represents a favorite film, or invent a new movie! Visitors will also lean about the upcoming Detroit Film Theater schedule.

The Detroit institute of Arts will be celebrating Pride Month with themed public tours dedicated to LGBTQ+ art and artists, Friday nights in June at 6pm.

A wide variety of artists in the collection will be explored in a docent-led experience, ranging from 19th century sculptors to contemporary painters.

Tours will depart from the Great Hall. No registration required.

Create a pencil drawing to take home while taking a closer look at the collection. No experience is necessary. All supplies provided. For ages 6 - Adult (children ages 12 and younger should be accompanied by an adult). Capacity is limited.

nathan trice / RITUALS: dance, theater, & music kicks off the Detroit Multicultural Dance Festival at the DIA with live preview performances showcasing some of the various dance styles being taught in the festival's classes. Get in the mood to move your body, learn about the histories and traditions behind the dance styles, and experience the vibrant cultural expressions that make this festival a celebration of movement and community.
