In recognition of PTSD Awareness Month, join DIA Studio staff for an artmaking workshop designed to foster self-care and inspire mental health wellness.

In this session, participants will use simple book binding and collage techniques to design, construct, and embellish a one-of-a-kind journal.

No experience is needed, all materials provided.

Recommended for ages 16 and up. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian

FMCA Annual Meeting & Panel: Contemporary Design at the DIA

As the Detroit Institute of Arts prepares to reinstall its Contemporary Wing, join the Friends of Modern and Contemporary Art for our annual meeting, followed by presentations from three artists featured in the display: ceramic artist Anina Major, furniture designer Jack Craig, and glass artist Kim Harty, as well as a panel discussion moderated by Shelley Selim, Mort Harris Curator of Automotive, Industrial, and Decorative Design.

Join the DIA Teen Arts Council for our final event of the 2025-2026 year, Creations and Choruses.

Creations and Choruses is a music-themed event featuring guest artist Audra Kubat, a Detroit-born composer, performer, and educator. In this event, participants will be able to work with Audra and each other to write a song based on pieces they see in the museum. Participants will also be able to paint on a vinyl record to make their own music-inspired piece.
