Join filmmaker ishkwaazhe Shane McSauby (Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians) in the Detroit Film Theatre for a special screening and discussion of his short films Mino BimaadiziwinNimkiiHappy Thanksgiving, and his latest work, The Beguiling.

McSauby blends genre and convention to explore themes of love, identity, and reconnection, inspiring reflection on complex contemporary issues.

A former Sundance Institute Indigenous Film Fund Fellow, McSauby holds an MFA in writing and directing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, his films have screened at Academy Award–qualifying festivals, including TIFF 2024 and SXSW 2025.
