Stars and Stripes for Art

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence, the Learning and Audience Engagement Division of the DIA presents Stars and Stripes Forever: An Art Appreciation. 

At the Detroit Institute of Arts, every visitor has a favorite work that stops them in their tracks. This interactive project invites guests to place a star beneath the artwork that resonates with them most, creating a collective map of the museum’s most loved works. 

As stars accumulate, they reveal the art that inspires, surprises, and moves our community, encouraging visitors to discover the museum through one another’s eyes.
