Burnt Sugar Arkestra: J Dilla's Donuts Re-Imagined is a special project that takes the legendary album Donuts by J Dilla and reinterprets it through Burnt Sugar's lens of funk, jazz, improvisation, and "conduction" (real-time ensemble direction). Rather than simply covering the album, Burnt Sugar expands Dilla's brief beat sketches into sprawling live compositions, solos, grooves, and collective improvisations.
