Serafina

Serafina was formally established as a permanent ensemble in early 2019 with a mission to present under-performed repertoire by early and modern women composers to audiences in Southeast Michigan and across the country. The group elevates music written by, for, and about women through performance, education, and advocacy. Serafina strives to create a welcoming environment for both experienced concertgoers and those new to the early-music scene.  The ensemble has been featured on several national concert series, as well as in local performances in collaboration with the American Guild of Organists, the University of Michigan Organ Conference, the Fairlane Music Guild Concert Series, and the West Concert Series.

This performance is designed to compliment the DIA’s exhibition Guests of Honor: Armor as Fashion, which brings single or small groups of extraordinary works from across the globe to Detroit.
