Signed and dated, in two columns of text along lower left border: (Made by Tang Di, [also called] Zihua, of Wuxing, during the mid-trimester of the tenth month in the winter of the second year of Zhizheng.) [translated by Richard Barnhart, 2018]
Inscribed in upper right corner: (I've long admired the leisurely wilderness spirit of Master Tang, / Who built his home and lived among the white cluds. / In the response [of his art] he loved only the old northern regions, / And he did not paint the mountains of Jiangnan after rain. / [signed] Qian Kui, with one seal) [translated by Richard Barnhart, 2018] Inscribed in upper left corner: (Master Tang had a deep passion for painting, / The fresh clarity of his art is truly delightful. / Light clouds and pale mists circle tall pines, / A stream runds through winding valleys. / Storied mansions sit among the verdure, / And fishing boats drift on green waters. / If hills and valleys did not fill his breast, / How could he have produced such art! / [signed] Chen Mei, with one seal) [translated by Richard Barnhart, 2018]
Traces of artist's seal directly below inscription with signature (left border) Seal of Qian Kui (died 1384) at end of inscription in upper right corner Seal of Chen Mei (dates unknown, possibly mid-late 1300s) at end of inscription in upper left corner Three seals in lower left corner, one belonging to Song Quan (1598-1652)
