Please note these changes to operations this weekend in preparation for this year's Gala fundraiser. We understand these closures are an inconvenience and have tried our best to minimize disturbances. We appreciate your patience and understanding. 

The DIA Gala is our biggest annual fundraising event and helps ensure that the museum can continue to provide key programs for the community. 

Closures on Thursday, November 7   

  • Rivera Court open until 1 p.m. Visitors will be able to view from the rear balcony
  • Great Hall closed. The Big Picture Guided Tour will kick off in the Farnsworth lobby during closures. 

Closures on Friday, November 8  

  • Rivera Court: Visitors will be able to view from the rear balcony
  • Great Hall: The Big Picture Guided Tour will kick off in the Farnsworth lobby during closures.
  • Woodward entrance
  • Prentis Court and Information Desk 

Closures on Saturday, November 9 

  • Rivera Court: Visitors will be able to view from the rear balcony
  • Great Hall: The Big Picture Guided Tour will kick off in the Farnsworth lobby during closures.

  • Café DIA after 2:30 p.m. 

Other spaces may also become unavailable as setup progresses throughout Saturday.

All educators are welcome to join us for the 2025 Black History Month Educator Workshop! During the workshop, participants will learn about everything the DIA offers teachers and students, experience an Africana field trip, and tour the special exhibition Tiff Massey: 7 Mile + Livernois with DIA Associate Curator of Contemporary Art, Katie Pfohl. Participants will also experience a hands-on activity inspired by the exhibition and replicable in the classroom.

Free State Continuing Education Clock Hours pending approval.

This event is free with registration. Capacity is limited.

The Friends of African & African American Art (FAAAA) will honor Andrew Camden & the late Gayle Shaw Camden with its 2024 Margaret Herz Demant Award for African Art. A program in the Danto Lecture Hall highlighting the Camdens' past and ongoing contributions will conclude with a reception in the FJC Dining Rooms. 

This event is free and open to the public, registration is required.
