Though it was released in 1961, the Italian director Dino Risi’s Italian post-war comedy was never distributed in the US due to a series of distribution missteps.

The story of Silvio, a left-leaning journalist and  former resistance fighter trying to hold onto his politics while providing for his family after a war, is a riotous comedy wrapped around a stinging political core.
