Motor City Pride

Find the DIA at Detroit’s biggest celebration of LGBTQ+ identities—Motor City Pride on Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7. If you’re at the festival, stop by the DIA artmaking tent and create some Japanese paper fans (uchiwa) with members of our Studio. 

During Sunday’s parade, members of PRISM, the museum’s first Employee Belonging Group, centered around LGBTQ+ identity and allyship, and friends will march for the third consecutive year.

Founded in 2023, PRISM has grown to more than 80 members and helps build community within the DIA and beyond. They also work behind the scenes with teams across the DIA to welcome more diverse artists, performers, and visitors. 

Look for the studio at community fairs and festivals across the tri-county area all summer long.
