Detroit-based textile artist Najma Ma’at Wilson will demonstrate how to create stitched collages. Participants will use basic stitching techniques with needles, thread, and fabrics, with all materials provided. Guests will also have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative stitched collage installation, which will be displayed in the Learning Center hallway later this winter.

Ma’at’s passion for fiber arts was inspired by her mother. She holds a degree in fiber design from the Center for Creative Studies and a master’s degree in education from Boston College. With 20 years of teaching experience, she has taught locally at Cass Technical High School and internationally in Cotonou, Benin, West Africa.
