Decorative folding screens originated in Han Dynasty China (20 BCE–220 CE) and later spread to Korea and Japan. They are known by several names: pingfeng in China, byeongpung in Korea, and byōbu in Japan.

These beautifully adorned folding screens are also functional—they divide spaces, provide privacy, and block breezes. Create a miniature version using a variety of artmaking materials and symbols to personalize your design.
