Audra Kubat’s Gallery to Melody in Concert

Join Detroit-based singer-songwriter Audra Kubat for an afternoon celebrating the creative voices of Tri-County students. Culminating a year of Gallery to Melody workshops at the DIA, this special performance brings to life original songs developed by students in response to works from the museum’s collection. 

Guided by Kubat’s collaborative songwriting process, students engaged deeply with selected artworks—sharing observations, shaping ideas into lyrics, and collectively building melodies into fully realized compositions. Each piece reflects a unique exchange between visual art and musical expression, created and performed in community.  

The concert features these student-written works alongside selections from Kubat’s own repertoire, highlighting the transformative possibilities of interdisciplinary arts education. Rooted in creativity, collaboration, and self-expression, this program offers an inspiring testament to the ways young people can connect with one another through art.
