About the Artwork

Sphère-Trâme employs the strategy that Morellet developed called superimposition. Based on a design by Morellet, fabricators welded circular, stainless steel grids together, which progressively lengthen in size toward the center to form a perfect sphere. This sphere hovers above the ground and, as movement activates the grid patterns, it affects the eye as a shimmer.
