About the Artwork

The English painter John Constable was known for his intense interest in the English countryside and its changing atmospheric conditions. The rich, moist greenery of The Glebe Farm and its tranquil vistas show why his work was admired by the French Impressionists, who followed Constable's example and also began to paint outdoors.
