Stamped on the inside of the lid: [2] Lion passant (English quality mark for sterling); [3] Capital Roman P (date letter for 1810) Stamped on the outside of the upper rim of the box: [1] WP (W partially effaced or partial strike?) (maker's mark for William Pitts?); [2] Lion passant (English quality mark for sterling); [3] Leopard's head crowned (London assay office mark); [4] P (London date letter for 1810); [5] King's head (duty mark for 1786-1821 King George III).
