July 18, 2016 (Detroit)—Share your favorite American road trip experiences with the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) this summer through the #DIAOpenRoad Photo Contest, running Monday, July 18 through Monday, Aug. 22 on Instagram. Held in conjunction with the museum’s exhibition “The Open Road: Photography and the American Road Trip,” the contest seeks photos that best encapsulate the American road trip.
Photographers—professionals and amateurs alike—can enter to win by posting a photo on Instagram with the hashtag #DIAOpenRoad and tagging @DIADetroit. Both vintage and contemporary photos will be accepted, but they must document a United States travel experience and be posted between July 18 and Aug. 22.
The winning photo will be chosen by Nancy Barr, DIA co-chief curator and curator of photography. Prizes include an exhibition catalogue and a Lomography Lomo-Instant Wide San Sebastian edition camera. The winner will be announced on Thursday, Aug. 25.
