DETROIT – The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is excited to announce an open call for entries for the fourth annual Wayne County High School Art Exhibition. Current Wayne County high school students are invited to submit their most creative, meaningful, and impactful artwork for consideration for the exhibition, which will be on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts from June 20 through July 20. Submissions are open through March 23 at https://dia.org/events/exhibitions/wayne-county-high-school-art-exhibition-0
“We take pride in uplifting and inspiring the next generation of artists at the museum,” said DIA Director Salvador Salort-Pons. “The Detroit Institute of Arts is honored to continue the tradition of highlighting the talent of Wayne County’s students with this exhibition.”
The 4th annual Wayne County High School Art Exhibition celebrates the work of students in grades 9-12 throughout Wayne County. In previous years, the exhibition has featured imaginative artworks by emerging artists, including photography, painting, textiles, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics and more. An extension of the DIA exhibition will take place at the Guardian Building, where participating artists will have an additional opportunity to showcase their work.
“The Wayne County High School Art Exhibition is a shining example of how creativity and art can unite communities while allowing us to recognize these young people for their brilliance,” said Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans. “I am always so moved by the depth of talent displayed each year, and I encourage all of Wayne County’s high school artists to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to share their voices and stories through art. Students, submit your work for consideration; it could be the inspiration that someone else needs.”
