Detroit Institute of Arts presents Miles Davis tribute with Rayse Biggs and Dwight Adams

WHAT:         Friday Night Live! tribute to Miles Davis, whose music will be explored by a band led by Detroit trumpet masters Rayse Biggs and Dwight Adams.

WHEN:         Friday, Jan. 26, 7 and 8:30 p.m.

WHERE:       Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Avenue

WHO:           Detroiter Rayse Biggs, trumpeter, composer, arranger, producer and recording artist who has played and recorded with Kem, Kidd Rock, Bob Dylan, the Dramatics, among others.

Detroiter Dwight Adams, trumpeter who has played and recorded with James Carter, Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, among others, and tours with Stevie Wonder.

Miles Davis, a trumpeter who from his arrival on the national scene in 1945 until his death in 1991, became the standard-bearer for successive generations of musicians, shaping the course of modern improvisational music more than a half-dozen times. Davis’ music will be explored by a band led by Detroit trumpet masters Rayse Biggs and Dwight Adams.

COST:            Free with museum admission and free for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county residents.

Museum Hours and Admission

9 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesdays–Thursdays, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. General admission (excludes ticketed exhibitions) is free for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county residents and DIA members.
