Updated Jun 13, 2016

June 13, 2016 (Detroit)—Detroit is joining more than 700 cities around the world for “Make Music Day” on Tuesday, June 21 and, to help celebrate, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is hosting a variety of performers on the museum’s  lawn from noon to 8 p.m.

Hosting Make Music Detroit is part of DIA Director Salvador Salort-Pons’ effort to have the DIA act as a town square where people can gather to enjoy art, music and share experiences.

“We’re excited to partner with Make Music Detroit in its inaugural year,” said Salort-Pons. “Events like these, out on the museum’s lawn, transform the DIA into a gathering place for the arts and life, a town square for all our communities. We’re hosting a variety of important, culturally diverse musicians that represent Detroit’s rich musical history, all with the focus of having family friendly programming.”
