January 18, 2018 (Detroit)—Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) auxiliary support groups have contributed $1.66 million to the museum’s operating endowment since Oct. 2015. The auxiliaries, most of which are linked to curatorial departments, raise funds for a variety of DIA initiatives, from art acquisitions to educational programs to gallery improvements. The mission of each auxiliary is to support the DIA by deepening the engagement of the community with the museum by offering members opportunities to explore their interests, develop new tastes, and get involved in the life of the museum.

“Becoming a member of a DIA auxiliary is a great way to support the museum while engaging in a variety of tailor-made art and social experiences,” said Salvador Salort-Pons, DIA director. “Auxiliary members also know that raising money for the endowment is an important investment in the DIA’s future that will enable us to engage, enlighten and delight visitors for generations to come.”

Friends of Modern and Contemporary Art     $109,000

Visiting Committee for European Sculpture and Decorative Arts     $50,000

Volunteer Council     $1,000

Women's Committee      $143,000
