About the Artwork

One of the first artists to experiment with light as a medium, Flavin places seven fluorescent tubes in a symmetrical, vertical arrangement. This work is one in a series of tributes he made to the Russian constructivist artist Vladimir Tatlin and his colossal sculpture Monument to the Third International.
