Detroit Institute of Arts celebrates 4th Annual Wayne County High School Art Exhibition

Updated Jun 5, 2025

June 4, 2025 — On June 20, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) will open the 4th Annual Wayne County High School Art Exhibition. The exhibition features 84 works of art by high school students from across Wayne County and will remain on view in the Wayne and Joan Webber Education Wing at the DIA through Sunday, July 20, 2025. There will be an event for families and students on Monday, June 24, to celebrate the opening of the exhibition.

The annual exhibition celebrates the artistic vision, creativity, and technical skills of high school students who attend public, charter, private, or home schools in Wayne County. This year’s exhibition will feature photography, painting, textiles, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, and more from students across more than 30 schools.

"We are honored to once again shine a spotlight on the talents of Wayne County’s young artists at the DIA," said Salvador Salort-Pons, Director of the Detroit Institute of Arts. "This exhibition continues to demonstrate art's role in inspiring and empowering the next generation of creative thinkers and reflects the museum’s ongoing commitment to supporting educational opportunities in the arts."

“Warren C. Evans. "They've harnessed their creativity to produce works that showcase their skills and speak to their unique perspectives and experiences. We are grateful to the DIA for its continued dedication to elevating young artists from our community. We hope to see even more schools get involved in the future so we can expand this impressive exhibit.”

Following the exhibition's closing at the DIA on July 20, select artworks will be relocated to the Guardian Building in downtown Detroit for extended public viewing in August.
